+-----------------------------------------------------------------------
| Running wine on OpenBSD
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This port runs 64-bit Windows applications on OpenBSD/amd64. It does not
provide 32-bit Windows support. You can identify 32-bit binaries with
file(1) or when seeing syswow64 error like this:

wine: failed to load L"\\??\\C:\\windows\\syswow64\\ntdll.dll" error[...]

In that case, the program *can't* run.

Common Problems
===============

The first step if an application doesn't run should be to check

	https://appdb.winehq.org/

for an entry. Also make sure, no 32-bit binary or library is involved (see
above).

Many games need higher than default datasize (and potentially other)
limits, see ksh(1) for ulimit.

In case of audio issues, make sure to consult the pulseaudio(1) man page.

Many games expect that the executable is run from its directory and not
a different location. So for path/to/program.exe, make sure to:

	$ cd path/to/
	$ wine program.exe

Direct3D Translation Layers
===========================

wine's default Direct3D graphics support (Damawand) uses OpenGL.
If Vulkan is installed and supported by your hardware, you can try
alternative (faster) translation layers. DXVK for D3D8, 9, 10, and 11:

	https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk

and/or VKD3D-Proton for D3D12:

	https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton

Both come with installation instructions and/or install scripts that
install the dll's into the wine prefix and update winecfg.

Debugging
=========

See WINEDEBUG in wine(1).
